<p>We are seeking a recent or upcoming grad with a degree in Apparel or Industrial Design, and a passion for outdoor sports, to join our Research and Development team as a Design Assistant. As a Design Assistant, you will support the development of comprehensive design and product solutions that are in line with Arc&#8217;teryx design philosophies and customer needs.</p>
<p>Ideally you will have:</p>
<p>    * Degree or working towards a degree in Design (Apparel or Industrial), or equivalent design experience<br />
    * Avid involvement in and understanding of activities we make products for<br />
    * Hands-on experience constructing products, preferably textile-based<br />
    * Technical and creative skills to pattern and prototype<br />
    * Strong entrepreneurial and innovative mind set<br />
    * Excellent communication skills, including written and spoken English<br />
    * Excellent time management skills<br />
    * Strong planning and organizational skills<br />
    * Attendance at tradeshows and company events as required</p>
<p>Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):</p>
<p>    * Assisting Designer in developing patterns and prototypes<br />
    * Aid in establishing construction detail and fit concepts with the Designer and sample floor<br />
    * Testing various materials for suitability in construction and problem solve<br />
    * Working and communicate with Designers, Pattern makers, and Product Developers to see styles through to completion<br />
    * Working, communicating, and aiding with Design Engineering to prototype and concept tools required for the manufacture of the final product<br />
    * Working closely with Designer to develop standards and ensure consistency across all styles in the line plan, or individual programs within the line plan<br />
    * Monitoring prototypes on sample floor and respond to problems as they arise<br />
    * Assisting in product illustrations</p>

    * 2+ years experience in soft goods development, production or merchandising<br />
    * Strong problem solving skills<br />
    * Ability to interpret design intent and product innovation<br />

    * Ability to manage multiple priorities</p>
<p>Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:</p>
<p>    * Capture and detail all product materials/construction information, and maintain an accurate database of BOM information that will result in efficient raw material purchasing and accurately produced finished product<br />
    * Coordinate all factory communication throughout development process to ensure accurate material sourcing, costing, and successful execution of product<br />
    * Direct development process to achieve commercial viability of designs through collaboration with Design, Materials Development, Purchasing, Production and Quality departments<br />
    * Manage the calendar and process including costing, quality evaluation, fabric, trim and color standards and approval requirements with the factory<br />
    * Manage proto, sample, counter-sample and production approvals to ensure Arc’teryx quality standards as well as on time deliveries<br />
    * Prepare accurate initial cost estimates for all prototypes and manage costing process to ensure consistent, accurate cost sheets are received from all vendors and approvals are clearly communicated internally and externally<br />
    * Coordinate with Planning, Purchasing and Design departments on all sampling requirements<br />
    * Work in collaboration with design and pattern making to ensure products meet established fit and measurement standards<br />
    * Support the sourcing and training of new factory resources and ensure that Arc’teryx brand standards are met<br />
    * Work in conjunction with the Design team and Marketing Team to ensure all external product communication accurately reflects product model and specification</p>

Coordinate the look and function of product lines.<br />
Present designs and reports to relevant stakeholders for approval, and discuss need for modification.<br />
Evaluate feasibility of design ideas, based on factors such as appearance, safety, function, serviceability, budget, production costs/methods, and market characteristics.<br />
Read publications, attend showings, and study competing products and design styles and motifs to obtain perspective and generate design concepts.<br />
Research production specifications, costs, production materials and manufacturing methods, and provide cost estimates and itemized production requirements.<br />
Develop manufacturing procedures and monitor the manufacture of their designs in a factory to improve operations and product quality.<br />
Investigate product characteristics such as the product&#8217;s safety and handling qualities, its market appeal, how efficiently it can be produced, and ways of distributing, using and maintaining it.<br />
Participate in new product planning or market research, including studying the potential need for new products.</p>

Must be a motivated, pro-active, self starter who is able to handle multiple tasks and assignments<br />
Strong sketching ability, a proven ability to communicate design concepts, and follow their designs all the way through manufacturing<br />
Excellent communication skills, ability to communicate designs effectively to upper management and relevant stakeholders<br />
Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, and competency in 3D software (Rhino or SolidWorks preferred). </p>

<p>What you need to do it well:<br />

As an industrial designer, you will play a key role in developing creative design concepts reflective of the premiere manufacturer of business aircrafts. You demonstrate strong sketching and modeling abilities as well as an extensive knowledge of 2D and 3D concept software.<br />
You are knowledgeable with materials and fabrication procedures.</p>
<p>You are a creative, forward thinking person who generates a large quantity of good and varied ideas. You have a portfolio that demonstrates these skills.<br />
You have sharp design eye, good judgment and an attention to detail.</p>
<p>You will work within a multi-disciplinary design team and engage on projects from the earliest stages through to the final product. You will be working with multiple business partners to meet business objectives and goals. You must be energetic, strongly self-motivated and able to motivate others.</p>
<p>Job Qualification:</p>
<p>- Minimum of 3-5 years relevant aviation design experience<br />
- University (BID or BFA) and/or Collegial (DEC) Diploma of Interior or Industrial Design or equivalent.  Knowledge of the interior completion process and how it relates to the interior design of an aircraft would be an asset.<br />
- Versed in the fundamentals of design, ergonomics, color theory, and presentation materials.<br />
- Experience in cars, yachts, trains or luxury / high-end goods a significant plus.<br />
- Knowledge of aerospace regulations &amp; certification requirements a significant plus.<br />
- Highly skilled in Photoshop and Illustrator.<br />
- Good knowledge of Autocad and 3ds max.<br />
- Knowledge of Rhino, Catia V5 and video editing software an asset.<br />
- Fluency in French and English is an important asset.</p>

<p>Codetta is a busy product design firm located in the heart of downtown Victoria, British Columbia. <p>We are currently seeking a Product Design Engineer / Industrial Designer with a passion for their work and experience in consumer product design. </p>
<p>You have:</p>
<ul>
<li>Completed a university degree in product design engineering, industrial design, or mechanical engineering.</li>
<li>5+ Years product design experience, preferably in a consultancy environment.</li>
<li>Pro/Engineer or other 3-D CAD proficiency.</li>
<li>Experience in designing parts for Injection molding, Sheet-metal, and other manufacturing methods.</li>
<li>Microsoft Office and other general computer experience. </li>
<li>Able to meet and communicate ideas and project details with clients.</li>
<li>A Reliable and efficient approach to work.</li>
<li>Rendering experience with Rhino or other software.</li>
<li>Excellent problem solving, Visual and verbal communication skills.</li>
</ul>
<p>Main role: Realize product designs through to manufacturing on the basis of project briefs and other client or team guidance.</p>
<p>Duties include:</p>
<ul>
<li>Engineer product parts and assemblies, solving for appearance, safety, function, durability, serviceability, budget, production costs/methods, and marketing requirements.</li>
<li>Engineer and problem solve mechanical problems related to product designs such as snap fit details, living hinges, and other novel mechanisms.</li>
<li>Engineer detailed mechanical components, assemblies, and enclosure parts using Pro Engineer 3-D solid modeling.</li>
<li>Assist with printed circuit board layout as it interfaces to the mechanical design.</li>
<li>Determine appropriate method of manufacture (e.g. sheet metal, machining, casting, injection molding, stamping, extrusions etc.) and select appropriate materials.</li>
<li>Transfer designs to manufacturing with 2-D part drawings, standard part and hardware specifications and other documentation.   </li>
<li>Interface with other Industrial Designers to implement product concepts.</li>
<li>Prepare sketches of ideas, detailed drawings, illustrations and renderings by hand or using computer-aided design equipment.</li>
<li>Work with toolmakers and other vendors to achieve desired results.</li>
<li>Estimate mechanical elements (time, cost) to support project planning.</li>
<li>Fabricate, Assemble and test physical mock ups and prototypes.</li>
