Practicing industrial designers without formal industrial design education will also be considered for admission as Professional Members depending upon amount and type of professional experience, on the basis of an above-average standard of professional ability and experience.

All applicants for Professional membership must present a portfolio of work completed and a minimum of two case histories which adequately demonstrate the experience, skills and capabilities in all stages of the design process.  Applications are judged by a panel of three qualified Professional Members of the BCID.
