We are seeking a highly motivated Industrial Designer who has a proven track record of success to add to our dynamic team. Under the general supervision of the VP of Operations, you will need to possess the ability to self direct, prioritize the needs of the organization and to exhibit a passion for designing and creating packaging and products which enhances and adds value to the user experience. We are seeking a candidate with a strong understanding of the integration of design in the corporate business environment. Applicant must be able to advocate and champion customer experience while being a liaison between Design, R&D, Marketing, Vendors, Contract Manufacturers and Procurements.

In addition, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Support new product development and works closely with the R&D department
Creates and designs packaging and cookware
Travels to factories to source product packaging materials and prototypes
Design thinker
Ability to locate and qualify production factories.
Proven ability to take concept to prototype to final product
Prepare sketches of ideas, detailed drawings, illustrations, artwork, and/or blueprints, using drafting instruments, paints and brushes, or computer-aided design equipment.
Modify and refine designs, using working models, to conform to internal customer specifications, production limitations, or changes in design trends.
Coordinate the look and function of product lines.
Present designs and reports to relevant stakeholders for approval, and discuss need for modification.
Evaluate feasibility of design ideas, based on factors such as appearance, safety, function, serviceability, budget, production costs/methods, and market characteristics.
Read publications, attend showings, and study competing products and design styles and motifs to obtain perspective and generate design concepts.
Research production specifications, costs, production materials and manufacturing methods, and provide cost estimates and itemized production requirements.
Develop manufacturing procedures and monitor the manufacture of their designs in a factory to improve operations and product quality.
Investigate product characteristics such as the product’s safety and handling qualities, its market appeal, how efficiently it can be produced, and ways of distributing, using and maintaining it.
Participate in new product planning or market research, including studying the potential need for new products.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
MS office suite
Adobe creative suite
CAD proficiency-preferably Pro-engineer
Ability to travel internationally
Strong knowledge of materials, processes and finishes
Market knowledge, understands market trends, and product
Be proactive with the ability to make sound and timely decisions
Excellent oral- and written-communication skills
Excellent customer service, multi-tasking ability and organizational skills
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment to contribute to the overall success of Victorian Epicure
Negotiation skills
Ability to adapt to change
Understanding of import/export processes

Education and Work Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design or equivalent experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in product design with a proven development and innovation record
Creative concept development experience with strong problem solving and logical thinking capacities
Willingness to wear many hats and work in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced culture
Must be a motivated, pro-active, self starter who is able to handle multiple tasks and assignments
Strong sketching ability, a proven ability to communicate design concepts, and follow their designs all the way through manufacturing
Excellent communication skills, ability to communicate designs effectively to upper management and relevant stakeholders
Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, and competency in 3D software (Rhino or SolidWorks preferred).
