BC/GDC Presents Practivism2 Speaker Series – Nov 19th
By info • Nov 17th, 2009 • Category: All Posts, Local Design NewsPractivism II – DESIGNS ROLE IN CREATING SOCIAL CHANGE
Social change is the adoption of new behavior on a large enough scale that it can be seen and sustained. Design does not offer a panacea solution; however we often interact with the world around us through design. Design can be leveraged to catalyze the changes our world requires. Designers are investigating the complex challenges facing the world, and our problem solving capacities are being put to the test. We are asking each other and ourselves: Can design ignite change? Are we able to design with people, not for people? Or is design the problem? We don’t have all the answers, but we are pausing to ask the questions. Join the GDC for an exchange of dialogue about designs role in creating social change.
