WORLD HOUSE
COSTA RICA ONLINE CHARRETTE

From February 7-10, 2008, 150 Architectural Technology students from George Brown College joined students from the Institute without Boundaries to explore housing solutions for Guanacaste, a region of Costa Rica that is stressed by housing and water shortages. Be sure to check out the results of the charrette at Toronto’s Interior Design Show from February 21 to 24, 2008.

Now its your turn! We are inviting participation from professionals, students, and design enthusiasts from every country in the world. Organize a team, host your own World House Costa Rica charrette, and submit your designs by April 18, 2008.

Winning designs will be published in a special edition of Building Magazine and showcased as a part of the World House Costa Rica exhibition at the National Gallery of Costa Rica in San José in 2009.

Visit the official Online Charrette site and register to download the research package, watch the video, and join the challenge!

The Institute without Boundaries at George Brown College is an
interdisciplinary postgraduate program that challenges students, from a host
of different educational and professional backgrounds, to collaborate on
global problems.

The World House Project, the current focus of the IwB, confronts the
issue of shelter for coming generations by developing housing systems
that operate on the principles of sustainability, universality, intelligence
and ecological balance.
