WORLD HOUSE INTERDESIGN – Sustainable Housing & Water: Local & Global Challenges
From June 24 to June 30, George Brown College’s Institute without Boundaries (IwB) and the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid) will be hosting Interdesign 2007, a leading international design conference bringing together designers, students and educators to collaborate on four design challenges. This year, participants will be sharing ideas and developing concepts for the World House, the Institute’s year-long project on sustainable housing and water usage.

Program Highlights

The World House Interdesign will open on June 24 with an Icsid welcome by Mr. Carlos Hinrichsen, President-Elect, Icsid  and a keynote presentation by Dr. Thomas Homer-Dixon on “Energy, Climate, and Resilient Design”.  Dr. Homer-Dixon is the Director of the Trudeau Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Toronto and author of, The Ingenuity Gap, which received the Governor General’s Award.
On the evening of June 26, there will be a panel discussion on “Shared Responsibility: Sharing Ideas and Innovation” with Ms. Leslie Hoffman, Executive Director of the New York based organization Earth Pledge, Ms. Beatrice Olivastri, CEO of Friends of the Earth Canada and Mr. Peter Love, Ontario’s first Chief Energy Conservation Officer.  
On the evening of June 28, a special presentation with Mr. Bill Moggridge, Congress Chair of Connecting 07 World Design Congress and co-founder of IDEO based in Palo Alto will also be featured.
The closing address will be presented by Professor Dr. Peter Zec, President of Icsid on June 29.
