NRC-IMI Powder Injection Moulding (PIM) Project Announcement

National Research Council Canada - Industrial Materials Institute [NRC-IMI] is seeking partners for a multiclient project aimed at developing a titanium and titanium alloy forming process through powder injection moulding (PIM) for applications that meet the most demanding standards of the medical, dental and aerospace sectors.NRC-IMI proposes the multiclient approach to meet the challenge posed by titanium PIM forming.  The project should involve the participation of at least 10 partners.  The project is aimed at parts users, designers and manufacturers, as well as to the producers of titanium powders.

Lorenzo Imbesi at the Emily Carr Institute

The ID Department at ECIAD would like to extend an invitation to BCID members to attend a lecture by visiting design professor Lorenzo Imbesi at 10:30am Tuesday November 14. 

The lecture is the kick-off event for a 3 day design charrette Lorenzo will be conducting with the ID program. 

About Lorenzo Imbesi 
Lorenzo teaches Theories of Design and Design Studio and is a researcher and lecturer in the ITACA Department, Section of Arts, Design and New Technologies within the University La Sapienza in Rome Italy.

Call for Entries - BC Creative Achievement Awards

Deadline for Submission to the BC Creative Achievement Awards is December 15th http://www.bcachievement.com 

From the BC Creative Achievement Awards Website:  “The 2007 British Columbia Creative Achievement Awards will recognize up to five individuals from British Columbia’s outstanding applied art and design community. Artists and designers who work in jewelry, glass, wood, fibre, clay and metal or such areas as, but not limited to, textiles, furniture, musical instrument-making, weaving, ceramics, book binding, paper, fashion and industrial design are eligible to submit their work. 

Up to three awards will be presented to an established artist/designer and at least one award will be presented to an emerging artist/designer. “Emerging” reflects those at an early stage in their career who have completed their basic training, formal or informal, and have created a modest independent body of work. “Established” reflects those who have created a significant independent body of work over a number of years and who have reached a level of achievement and recognition.”
